The label states Ibanez, Made in Japan, and is serialized as "Maison 1881" with the production number of 805. When did Ibanez make the traditional Gourd or Bowl shaped model mandolin, and does anyone have any further information on this seemingly unusual model of an Ibanez Mandolin. The resonance of the sound is awesome. It also has a unique extension on the lower fret board that extends into the round sound hole that allows an additional octave and a half to the upper register. I am still attempting to determine the string height and bridge location to maximize the playability and sound of this great little instrument.
